ABOUT
Carlyne Kohner, PCC

Professional Life Coach for Individuals • Leadership & Team Development • Community Builder • Founder of Heart-Based Coaching
For nearly two decades, Carlyne has helped people discover their strengths, navigate life's transitions, build meaningful relationships, and create purposeful change.

But at the heart of Carlyne's work is something even more personal:
She believes everyone can harness their talents and skills. She believes in family. She believes in community. And she believes that meaningful work should make a difference in both.

As a hands-on mother and wife, family has always been one of Carlyne's greatest foundations. Her commitment to serving others grew naturally from that foundation and became deeply personal through her involvement in her community.

During the Eaton Canyon fire, Carlyne experienced this belief in action. She stepped forward to support and reassure her neighbors, responding to their needs before, during, and after the fire. For her, community service was not simply a role or responsibility—it was an expression of what she believes it means to care for one another. That experience reflects the philosophy behind her work:

When people are supported, families are stronger.
When families are connected, communities are stronger.
When people and communities are healthy, organizations and teams can thrive.

THE HEART-BASED TRIANGLE
Carlyne sees her work as an interconnected system with three essential dimensions:

1. INDIVIDUAL
The Person: Everything begins with the individual. Through one-on-one coaching, Carlyne helps people develop self-awareness, recognize their strengths, clarify their values, navigate challenges, and take meaningful action. She works with youth, neurodiverse individuals, parents, educators, entrepreneurs, professionals, executives, and leaders. The focus is on helping each person feel heard, seen, reassured, and supported while developing the confidence and accountability to create meaningful change.

2. TEAM & ORGANIZATION
The Collective: Individuals do not exist in isolation. They work, learn, lead, and grow within teams and organizations. Carlyne partners with businesses, schools, nonprofits, community organizations, and leadership teams to strengthen communication, collaboration, leadership, trust, professional development, and organizational culture.
Her approach recognizes that organizations are made up of people—and that healthy relationships, clear communication, shared values, and empowered individuals contribute to a stronger collective.

3. COMMUNITY
The Connection: The third dimension is community.
Carlyne believes that coaching and leadership should ultimately extend beyond the individual and contribute to the communities in which people live and work.  Her community experience has included board service, block leadership, parenting workshops, arts representation, and community advocacy in Pasadena, California. Community service allows the principles of Heart-Based Coaching to move from conversation into action.

WHY THE THREE WORK TOGETHER
Carlyne does not see individual coaching, team development, organizational work, and community service as separate paths.
They are connected.
Individual → Team → Community
A person brings their growth into their family and workplace.
A team brings its culture into the organization.
An organization becomes part of the larger community.
And the community, in turn, influences the people within it.

This is why Carlyne's work can move naturally between individual coaching, team coaching, organizational development, leadership training, and community engagement. The same Heart-Based Coaching principles apply across each level—from the individual to the collective.

THE HEART-BASED APPROACH
Heart-Based Coaching brings together the skills Carlyne has developed throughout her years as a coach, educator, trainer, leader, parent, and community member.
These include deep listening, curiosity, intuition, acknowledgment, mindfulness, perspective-taking, values exploration, empowerment, accountability, communication, leadership, relationship-building, and purposeful action.

The goal is not simply to solve a problem. It is to understand the person, the relationship, the team, the organization, and the community surrounding the situation—and then identify what can move forward. At the center of this work is Carlyne's guiding belief:

Everyone deserves to feel heard, seen, reassured, and supported.

FROM HEART TO ACTION
Carlyne's professional journey spans education, coaching, leadership, training, and community service in the Philippines, Europe (Spain), and Pasadena, California.
She holds the Professional Certified Coach (PCC) credential through the International Coaching Federation and has trained in professional Co-Active Coaching and True Colors. Her educational background includes Educational Administration, Education, and Child Development.
Today, Carlyne brings these experiences together through Heart-Based Coaching—supporting people and organizations in creating greater clarity, connection, empowerment, accountability, and purpose.

For Carlyne, success isn't measured only by an individual's achievement or an organization's performance.
Success is when the person is well, the family is connected, the team can work together, the organization has purpose, and the community is stronger because of it.
That is the heart of her work.
